Criminal Minds in Mental Health

Why do people go to jail? What caused them to behave this way? What makes them different from everyone else? We can continue asking questions about criminal’s mental health status, but we are never going to find an answer that suits us, simply because there are too many illnesses and few solutions to repairing the illnesses. In fact, some of the causes of criminal behaviors are seated on the criminal justice’s doorstep. At the beginning of criminal justice came forth a bunch of so-called law enforcement groups that claim to bring forth justice. The twisted theories including flogging, beating, hanging, dismembering, public humiliation, beheading, and the list goes on and on. Therefore, we can see the root of criminals start with the criminal justice system. We all influenced by someone else and if our superior examples are illustrating violence to others, what message are they sending to the world? In fact, the first-known psychopath was recorded in the early 1800s. This person followed the example of the justice system by behaving in manners inappropriately. Howard owned his own drug store and worked around people each day, saving lives while taking other lives and destroying them. This is similar to the justice system strategy, since the law saves lives and takes lives. We can also take a look at the various serial killers in our history and see that these people flogged, hung, beat, mutilated, public humiliated his victims, beheaded, dismembered and so forth. While each killer was different from the other, in most cases each had their own strategy to kill and torture another human. The sad part is the law in these time-tortured individuals that committed less than a felony. What a real bad example to follow, and today the law is still in some areas behaving in this manner. Rapists came in to play when the White Supremacist were allowed to rape the black race and get away with it. Although there was rape, cases before this era the White supremacist provoked sick behaviors in others as they followed closely behind the footsteps. We can ask why do people kill, and rarely find an answer since we must look at a mountain of history information to find out what the links truly are. We know that people suffer mental illnesses and some are dangerous while others are not. We can also look at the criminal justice system and see that the system is a failure in many areas, and there are people in prison that are innocent or should not be there at all. We can look at all the examples in our history and see that these people are responsible for some of the behaviors and crimes that go on in the world today. We can also look at the many minds that are locked up in the system to determine why they do what they do. We can also look at society and see how it operates and what part of responsibility they have in the many crimes and criminals actions. For example, what part do you think racism plays in mental health and crime? Well, I am studying criminal justice today and I can tell you it plays a bigger role than most people believe. What part do the media play in mental health and crime? It too plays a large role. Poverty is another major problem that links crime and mental health or illnesses together. When a person has no out, they often resort to crime, sometimes starting small and sadly most times leading to bigger crimes. However, we also have the white collar and blue-collar criminals. These people are not as special as they believe, since many criminals worked important jobs, maintained a family, and socialized in society. In fact, many of the serial killers did not come from deprived homes as claimed by the law. In fact, few came from law biding homes, and most times the person suffering is suffering because he is a child born from a hereditary nation of chaos. We can ask all types of questions but in one article we could never sum of the true colors, since the law, society, political, religions, history, mental illnesses and so on play a part in crime.

Controlling your Anger

Controlling your anger is not always easy. It is important when a person has anger problems to try to talk to the person. Avoid loosing your temper yourself since this will only cause another problem. When a person has anger issues then that person puts others in danger and if we loose our control then we have a seriously chaotic situation that could lead to violence. If you have a child that has anger issues, it makes since to keep the chain of communication open. Sit your child down and talk with him or her attempting to find out what is making the child frustrated. Do not wait until the child is out of control and then try to talk. This only fuses the person often. Wait until the child cools down and then ask him or her what they feel caused the interruption. You might want to search your own area of contact with the child to see if anything you said or did made the child angry. This will help you to avoid this the next time you and your child are together. My child had anger problems and he was told to take a walk or a cool down period before addressing the issues. Of course, my child had mental illnesses underlying the anger and this contributed to the problems we endured. Self-talk and talking is always helpful when we are dealing with anger. Try to find the source of the anger by talking through the problem. Some recommend the angered person counts to 10 or 15, however if there is an underlying cause then this does not always work. The best solution is finding what works for you. It is also recommended that the child play a game, such as PlayStation, Nintendo or other game console and play until your anger ceases. Again, this works for some of us, but not all of us. A great technique I found valuable was drawing the source of your anger if possible. Writing, self-talk, talk, art, and music has proven in my experience to be more effective verses the other types of techniques offered. Exercise is also great. Running around the block, riding a bike, or going for a walk has proven helpful for eliminating anger for some individuals. Dance is great for relieving anger. Dance is a natural source of getting in touch with your feeling. If you ever wondered what the term she’s got soul means, well when you dance, feel the music and adhere to the steps of the beat then you got soul. There is nothing like the boogie fever since it relieves stress, tension, anxiety and makes your body and mind feel good since you did something constructive. If you must vent your frustration on something, get a punching bad, or else beat the heck out of your pillow. Some great advice came from health fitness experts when they advice me to enlist my child in Kick Boxing, Boxing, or Wrestling. This is said to teach the person control. Karate is another recommended source for helping a person deal with anger. The problem is when we are dealing with anger; we must get the other person to cooperate. Since most persons angered will find an excuse why the techniques provided to them does not work, it is important to get them to understand their anger, the problems and how the techniques can benefit them if they apply them selves. Crying is good for relieving stress and anger also; however, this is not always suitable for everyone. My children were raised understanding that it is ok to cry regardless of gender. Therefore, we need to teach our children regardless of gender that it is ok to express your emotions and feelings. That is not a disgrace; rather it is a developing of character strategy that works best for us all. Emotions when suppressed will create more problems for the people in society; therefore, it is important to address your feelings and emotions when they arise. Dealing with the problems when they arise is the best solution for dealing with emotions. Controlling your anger is not always easy, but it is possible.

Computer Skills Self Confidence

This phenomenal technology revolution we have found ourselves a part of is sweeping the world at an alarmingly fast rate. Quite suddenly, everyday tasks we have completed without the help of technology now require the latest and fastest technology to enable the task. This great advancement in all technical fields has made the most process in the field of computers. Today’s computers are small and light enough to fit into the palm of your hand, whereas the behemoths a couple of decades ago were giant systems with monstrous proportions. Everything now seems to run off batteries and is so tiny we can fit it in our pocket. It is no surprise many individuals have seemed unable to cooperate with these advancements simply because they lack the skills necessary to successfully operate a computer or a software program. Instead of hiding from this daily advancement of technology, build your self confidence in a computer skills program.

Learning even basic computer skills will allow you to access and run operations and programs on a personal computer or Apple’s Mac. If you are completely unfamiliar with a computer, consider enrolling in an introductory course at your local college or community college. These institutions offer individuals the opportunity to learn vital facts about a computer and be able to make the necessary repairs to your system. This class is to be taken with the extreme seriousness and should not be entered into lightly. If you are unable to attend a community college, be sure to check with your year’s prefects in order to retain a section of the transmission. These subjects can be based on a number of things ranging from setting up your own home office to learning the signs of a systems crash so that you can successfully back up your files.

If you do not find a community college is right you, consider contacting your local Parks and Recreation Department. Most park departments offer lessons that are excellent for computer beginners and the novice that has a general idea of how to get around the computer. Since the city, county, or town government sponsors these seminars, they are quite economical and offer specific breaks for area city, county, or town residents. Usually, the only equipment you will need to complete the entrance into the world of the Internet is a computer and access to the World Wide Web. Individuals from all over the world can access the Internet and contact individuals hundreds of thousands of miles away. If you do not have a computer at your disposal, try using computers from places like your local library. You will be able to stay fresh with your computer self confidence while accessing the Internet for absolutely free.

The easiest way to gain self confidence when working with computers is to practice, practice, practice. Explore your computer and try to understand how the hard drive works in cooperation with all of the extra prices present. Do not worry about breaking your computer or executing one potentially hazardous program or file. You computer is a great deal more rugged than you may think, therefore it is fully capable of withstanding errors and problems that may occur while you are exploring. Practice with programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You can quickly and easily complete projects of all expectations using this software. Once you have learned the computer, the operating system, and software, you can rely on your self confidence to carry you the rest of the way. Use your self confidence to maintain a sense of trust that you are doing what is necessary in order to completely learn necessary computer skills.

Building Your Self-Confidence at Work

Many people wish they felt more secure about their abilities on the job. In other words, they're looking for increased self-confidence when it comes to performing the work, dealing with coworkers, and handling tough situations. If you're one of these people, you're not alone. What can you do to feel more self-assured about your job?

First, remember that you are not your job. That is, if you make a mistake at work, this does not mean that you are stupid, worthless, or that you're in the wrong position. It's all too easy to take mistakes personally, seeing them as a reflection of your true person rather than for what it is: a mistake. Even though it may not always appear so, everyone makes mistakes from time to time. The best way to deal with a mistake is to own up to it right away and present a solution. This shows that you are honest, and by presenting ways to fix the problem, your boss can send you on your way to deal with the issue. Acting honestly and straightforwardly is best for you–you'll feel better about yourself–and best for the company (which again will help you feel better).

Another common issue is feeling insecure when it comes to coworkers. Many people feel that they do not fit in, are unsure how to handle conflict, or have an overbearing coworker or boss that they don't know how to communicate with. Any of these feelings can wear at your self-esteem. You may feel you have nothing to offer the group, whether socially or on projects, you avoid conflict, and may allow others to step on you. If socialization is a problem, it will require you to step out of your comfort zone a bit. This does not mean you need to jump right in with a large company gathering; rather, take it slow by opening conversations with one or two coworkers. Chances are you'll have something in common. Asking questions about the other person is always a great way to go; just avoid questions with simple yes or no answers.

When dealing with conflict resolution and difficult employees, learning some proven communication techniques may be necessary. Consider attending a course on conflict resolution and dealing with difficult people. In the meantime, remember that the overbearing person likely has a lot of insecurities as well, and these are what cause the behavior. In the midst of conflict, do your best to avoid being pulled into argumentative situations. Don't reward the other person's behavior by getting upset or immediately backing down. If necessary, say you'll continue the conversation when everyone has had a chance to cool down. Dealing with negative coworkers is never fun. Try and remember that your self worth is not dependent on the coworker's approval, even if that person is your boss.

It could be you're feeling unsure about your skills. This one is pretty easy–learn more! Many companies offer continuing education options, will pay for schooling, or offer professional development in house. Whatever your employer offers, take advantage. If your company does not have this option, find some good books on the subject. Ask your colleagues for suggestions, or if you're a member of any type of professional group, seek advice there as well. Many of your peers will have good suggestions on what's worth looking into.

Finally, give yourself some challenges. One great way to build your self confidence at work is to take on a special project or extra work. If you choose something you feel passionate about or something in your specialty area, you can show yourself and your colleagues that you are able to produce results. Even if you fail, you're showing initiative and willingness by taking on special projects. Knowing that you put yourself out there, rather than sitting on the sidelines, can be a great confidence booster. And the same can be said for when it goes well.

Anger in Review

When we review the source of our anger, it often helps us to see the answers we missed when our emotions had control. Emotions are our makeup and they control our anger, sadness, joy and all other aspects of our thinking if we let it. If you are having difficulty managing your emotions, you most likely suffer anxiety, depression and become uncontrollable when your anger bursts. The best solution then is writing down your emotions and thoughts on paper and search for the triggers that interrupted your emotions. For example, I was involved in an incident that caused my mind’s image to break off into fragments. I am unable to review the entire episode that created the chaos in my head. The incident caused my nerves to shatter, which led to anxiety attacks and periodical depression episodes. I cannot cope with everyday life and I often try to avoid people to minimize the conflict in my life. I have flashbacks on occasions that upset my nerves and emotions and when someone triggers me, I want to strike out and hurt them as they have hurt me. We are dealing with posttraumatic stress disorder in this experience; therefore, we need a coping strategy that works best for us. We see that the anger is going to get the best of the individual if he or she does not find a way to control the emotions that causes an uproar leading to anger outbursts. First, this person cannot stand to be around loud noises so staying away from crowds is best for now. Finding a safe haven in your home and a quite environment often works best to prevent anger and stress outbreaks. You might want to take Ginkoba for alertness to help enhance your mind. You might even want to visit a mental health expert and ask for a prescription that helps deal with posttraumatic stress disorders. Trazadone is great for relieving nightmares and night sweats, which are symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder. Vitamin C and Vitamin B-Complex are also great to enhance the mind and help a person cope with stress. If you have difficulty focusing, which is another symptom included in the diagnose then you might want to focus on smaller tasks and move ahead to bigger tasks when you are ready. Learn to relax. Taking deep breaths before your emotions erupt is often good for dealing with anger. Yoga and exercise are great for helping the body and mind to relax. If you struggle with emotions its best to find out what works best for you and practice each day relaxing approaches to healing. It is important to pamper your self and avoid stress and stressors as much as possible. Remember you are at a greater risk of anger explosion more so than the common people in society are. The diagnose formally known as ‘war shock’ will take you boldly where no one will ever go. It is important to learn the symptoms and find a way to deal with it accordingly. Learning is growing and when your mind grows, it is developing a great survival strategy. Remember when you are overly stressed your body is affected gravely. Your diagnose puts you at a deeper risk, since anxiety and stress levels of posttraumatic stress disorder opens the door to heart attacks and strokes. Eventually you will need to face the trauma that put you in this state of mind. Therefore, I highly recommend that you write everyday. Role-playing is also great for these diagnoses and will reduce anger and emotions. Sit down in a comfortable area and pretend someone in the chair across from you loves you. The person has your best interest at heart. Now begin telling your imaginary friend the problems you are dealing with and what you are feeling inside. If you are feeling angry, tell the person how you feel and why you are feeling this way if possible. If you need to punch something soft, so you will not get hurt. Finally, vent all your energy and anger by vocalizing to your imaginary friend and when you finish review your scene carefully. Put the anger in review and take charge of your position when you see that your anger is not out of your reach.
