Why do people go to jail? What caused them to behave this way? What makes them different from everyone else? We can continue asking questions about criminal’s mental health status, but we are never going to find an answer that suits us, simply because there are too many illnesses and few solutions to repairing the illnesses. In fact, some of the causes of criminal behaviors are seated on the criminal justice’s doorstep. At the beginning of criminal justice came forth a bunch of so-called law enforcement groups that claim to bring forth justice. The twisted theories including flogging, beating, hanging, dismembering, public humiliation, beheading, and the list goes on and on. Therefore, we can see the root of criminals start with the criminal justice system. We all influenced by someone else and if our superior examples are illustrating violence to others, what message are they sending to the world? In fact, the first-known psychopath was recorded in the early 1800s. This person followed the example of the justice system by behaving in manners inappropriately. Howard owned his own drug store and worked around people each day, saving lives while taking other lives and destroying them. This is similar to the justice system strategy, since the law saves lives and takes lives. We can also take a look at the various serial killers in our history and see that these people flogged, hung, beat, mutilated, public humiliated his victims, beheaded, dismembered and so forth. While each killer was different from the other, in most cases each had their own strategy to kill and torture another human. The sad part is the law in these time-tortured individuals that committed less than a felony. What a real bad example to follow, and today the law is still in some areas behaving in this manner. Rapists came in to play when the White Supremacist were allowed to rape the black race and get away with it. Although there was rape, cases before this era the White supremacist provoked sick behaviors in others as they followed closely behind the footsteps. We can ask why do people kill, and rarely find an answer since we must look at a mountain of history information to find out what the links truly are. We know that people suffer mental illnesses and some are dangerous while others are not. We can also look at the criminal justice system and see that the system is a failure in many areas, and there are people in prison that are innocent or should not be there at all. We can look at all the examples in our history and see that these people are responsible for some of the behaviors and crimes that go on in the world today. We can also look at the many minds that are locked up in the system to determine why they do what they do. We can also look at society and see how it operates and what part of responsibility they have in the many crimes and criminals actions. For example, what part do you think racism plays in mental health and crime? Well, I am studying criminal justice today and I can tell you it plays a bigger role than most people believe. What part do the media play in mental health and crime? It too plays a large role. Poverty is another major problem that links crime and mental health or illnesses together. When a person has no out, they often resort to crime, sometimes starting small and sadly most times leading to bigger crimes. However, we also have the white collar and blue-collar criminals. These people are not as special as they believe, since many criminals worked important jobs, maintained a family, and socialized in society. In fact, many of the serial killers did not come from deprived homes as claimed by the law. In fact, few came from law biding homes, and most times the person suffering is suffering because he is a child born from a hereditary nation of chaos. We can ask all types of questions but in one article we could never sum of the true colors, since the law, society, political, religions, history, mental illnesses and so on play a part in crime.
Self esteem is your own personal view of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Everyone has a different view of themselves, but keeping a positive outlook will benefit you more than a negative one. Many individuals suffer from low self esteem for a variety of reasons and need to build their self esteem in order to succeed in life. Remember, the only one who can make you excel is you and no one else. The same goes for self esteem. The only person who can build up—or consequentially tear down—your self esteem is you. Although other individuals may aide the process, the end decision is yours.
People have low esteem for a variety of reasons. Some individuals suffer from poor body image and focus on all the negative traits of their physical appearance. Others have emotional issues that have caused their self esteem to drop or feel themselves unworthy of any praise. Similarly, there are support groups available for individuals with self image issues. These groups will allow you to meet other individuals like yourself and provide a forum for you to sound your hopes and achievements.
However you choose to begin building your self esteem, do so today! Be thorough and consistent with the process and be aware it may take a while. You should not become impatient or despondent if you find your self esteem slipping. Remember, you are an important and worthy person and should treat yourself as such.
We live in a society of “joiners.” We like to join churches, clubs, and fraternal organizations. We like to join classes and magazine subscription drives. We simply enjoy being with other people, and so we spend much of our lives in groups. Certainly, this is a good thing—not only for our own mental health, but also for the good of society as a whole.
And yet, no organization is a perfect entity. Organizations often breed conflict within their ranks. The conflicts may be between people on the same level, or between people at different levels of the organizational hierarchy. The conflicts may be one-time disagreements, or bruising fights which last for eons. While some conflicts can be attributed to personality clashes, others stem from the organization itself.
Whether you’re involved in parent-teacher organizations or a writers’ free speech group, you might find that you’re running up against organization-induced stress. This can come in a variety of forms. To begin with, it might be caused by the fact that the organization seems to have lost its sense of purpose. It may be wandering aimlessly and lack clearly-defined goals. As a result, you might feel a great deal of stress since you aren’t certain where the organization is headed—or even if you want to go along for the ride. If you come across this problem, the best thing to do is to air your concerns to someone in a position of authority. It is entirely possible that the leadership will ignore your concerns, but at least you’ve tried. If you fail to achieve a workable solution, you might then be forced to leave the organization. But you’ll leave knowing that you attempted to have a positive impact.

As a result, the individuals within the organization may feel isolated and alone. The best defense against such a situation is healthy communication. Talk to other members of the group and find out if they are sensing an uncooperative atmosphere too. Then, get together and confront the person in charge. You might be amazed at what your small committee can do to effect change within the organization—and you might find your stress level subsiding considerably.
Yet another stress-inducing situation is organizational pessimism. Do members feel as if things will never get better? Are they frustrated and angry? Is there a sense of hopelessness in the ranks? If so, you and other members of the group may be experiencing a great deal of stress. You can lessen the stress by promoting a positive attitude. Make sure that you offer positive input when confronted with problems, and encourage other members of the organization to do the same. With a little bit of effort, you can turn your organization around—and lessen your stress in the process.
Organizational stress may take you by surprise. You might have joined the organization to relieve your stress, so when stress occurs in the group, you need to undergo a major attitude re-adjustment. The important thing to remember in such a situation is that you are not alone. Chances are other members of the group are experiencing the same kinds of things that you are. Trust your judgment and don’t be afraid to express your displeasure if things go wrong. The more you express your feelings, the more likely you are to reduce your stress.
Perhaps you’re an airline pilot who’s just spent hours in the cockpit. It seems like every muscle in your body is tense and you need relief. Or perhaps you’re a stay-at-home mom who’s spent the better part of your day cleaning your house. You feel as if your nerves are shot and you desperately want to feel better.
In both instances, the key to relieving stress may be progressive muscle relaxation. It’s a technique that began in the 1930s, but still has relevance today. With this technique, muscle groups are flexed and then relaxed in short order. The foundation of this technique is the concept that physical relaxation leads to mental repose. While the method does involve activating the muscles, you don’t have to be a weightlifter to try it. That’s because it requires no special training. In fact, virtually anyone can master the technique.
In general, you’ll want to practice the method ten to 20 minutes a day. But don’t blame yourself if you don’t master it on the first try. It’s best to take a gradual approach, improving your muscle flexing capabilities over time. You’ll need to rehearse the technique again and again in order to obtain maximum benefit. You’ll also need to be patient because you might not be able to pick it up in a single afternoon. But, in the long run, it will be well worth the effort.
Progressive muscle relaxation is referred to as a deep relaxation technique. This means that it can not only reduce stress, but also help alleviate chronic pain and sleeplessness. Doctors often use the technique in an effort to treat migraines and cancer. Usually, the relaxation technique begins with the feet and the legs, then gradually moves up the body to the chest, neck, and face. However, some physicians may try to relax muscle groups in a different order.
After some time, the amount of muscle tension attempted is increased in order to maximize the work of the muscles. You can engage in this exercise while seated, or you can do it lying in bed. Make sure, however, that you attempt it only in a place that is quiet and tranquil. Otherwise, you might find it difficult to complete the exercise. To begin with, tighten the muscles for about eight seconds and then release. Relax for about 30 seconds, then move onto another set of muscles. You might use progressive muscle relaxation in conjunction with imagery. In other words, you might imagine that you are like a wave of the ocean unleashing your power by flexing your muscles.
Through progressive muscle relaxation, you can learn to interpret your body’s cues. In this way, you can identify signs of tension within your body and determine ways to correct it. As a result, you should feel much less stress and may even feel as if you have more energy. Because progressive muscle relaxation has been around for decades, it is proven effective. Therefore, it is not a fad, but a legitimate relaxation technique.
Your initial relaxation session should last about an hour. You will engage in such activities as making a fist, bending your arms, raising your eyebrows, clenching your teeth, pulling up your shoulders, tightening your abdominal muscles, and lifting your heels. In time, such exercises will become second-nature to you. However, you should not try to speed up your exercises—the point is to remain relaxed, not to quicken your pace. The exercises may be a perfect activity on a Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon—whenever you’re ready to relax.
Progressive muscle relaxation is for anyone. Whether you work at a construction site or a classroom, in a music hall or in a meat market, you can benefit from the relaxation exercises. Granted, it may be hard for you to relax at first, especially if you are a Type A personality. But, chances are, you’ll quickly master the technique and learn to enjoy your exercises. In time, such relaxation exercises should become a natural part of life. You’ll feel healthier, more energetic, and less stressed. Chances are your attitude will brighten, since the weight of the world has been taken from your shoulders. You’ll find that time relaxing is truly time well-spent.
Would you like to be confident? Your answer may be - yes; I do want to be confident. However, this answer lacks the impact. It is too generalized. Just like everybody wants to do well in life and be rich but not many ever realize this wish. This is because to actually get somewhere in life, you need to quantify your confidence. You need to define the task for which you need to be confident so that you can execute it successfully. A mere wish to be confident won’t take you anywhere. The dream must have a deadline as well!
Self Confidence might mean different things to different people groups. For a child it might mean to be able to recite the poem to her teacher the next morning. For a business executive it might mean to be able to present the business report to the Board of Directors. For a salaried person it may be the ability to be able to make a switch over from his secure job to a new independent venture and so on. To execute their respective tasks, these people need a certain level of confidence, which would see them through. Every task requires a minimum level of confidence to be able to be executed. 1.Does it happen too often with you that you cannot take a decision all by yourself and you seem to look for your colleagues, friends, or your spouse to sort the matter for you?

3.Do you just sit and listen all the times in your office meetings?
4.Do you feel difficulty in reporting a matter to your boss or you have an excellent idea that can improve your company’s efficiency but you cannot muster enough courage to go and talk about it to your Boss?
5.Are you terrified to meet someone new? Is public speaking your worst nightmare?
6.Do you timidly accept orders from your superior even though you know that you are already overloaded and you need to say no?
7.Are you excessively concerned about what other people think of you?

10.Are you uncomfortable in social gatherings – being amongst lots of people?
If you happen to answer these questions with a Yes, you seem to have a confidence crisis that might become an obstacle in successfully executing your tasks. Don’t Panic, as it is good that you found out since now you are aware of a potential problem of your life. The very fact that you are aware of your confidence rating makes you ready to take further action and work towards eliminating the negative effects of low confidence levels and work towards building your self confidence.
Here are some more questions you may answer.
1.Have you accomplished anything in the past?
2.Are you the one to go ahead and break the ice at a new place or wait for someone else to initiate a discussion?
3.Do you feel you are well respected by others?
4.Do you think you have the potential to succeed?
5.Are you a happy and loving person?
6.Are you satisfied with your career graph?
7.Are you satisfied with your skills and qualifications?
8.Do you feel in control of your life?
9.Do you imagine yourself to be more successful five years from now?
10.Do you feel that you are a worthwhile person?
If you happen to answer most of these questions with a NO, you have LOW self-confidence levels.
However, a YES is never decisive and a NO is never final. One needs to constantly maintain the good points and work towards converting bad points into good points. And the good news is that it is very much possible. It’s important that you honestly answer the questions above, since only when you realize the present status of your self-confidence would you be working towards building self-confidence or maintaining and increasing your present levels.
